Hello Ladies!
Welcome to the official link-up to Emily Freeman's recent book, called Grace for the Good Girl. I'm so glad you are here! You are here because either you LOVE Emily's new book and just want to verbally process the crazy, cool things it is doing in your life, or you want to meet other women like yourself. Either answer is right :) You are welcome here!
Some of you may be asking how I came to pick this particular book. Good question :) Today's Christian book market has no shortage of resources out there for women. This book is fresh and painfully honest. You can watch this to see the background behind the book.
My journey with this book began in late October when I met Emily personally at the recent blogging Relevant Conference. I immediately fell in love with her heart and her writing. It wasn't until the plane ride home that I started reading. I kept underlining...and underlining...and circling...until I looked at my friend, shook my head, and said, "How does she know me so well?"
I believe that there is a residing "good girl" in all of us. At some point in our lives, we have learned to be "good" in order to avoid pain. This has turned into many issues that Emily touches on. Hiding behind our acts of service. Hiding behind our perfect smiles. Hiding behind following the rules. Even keeping up our reputations. Ouch. Does it hit you somewhere deep? It does to me!
Let's learn how to be led by God's love to a more intimate relationship with Him, devoid of our fears and insecurities, into true living with Him and others. Let's learn how to be a Recovering Good Girl, marked by His love and not what we can do!
Let's Get Down To It:
Every Tuesday at 8 a.m. Central Time, I will post my thoughts on the particular chapter we are looking at that week. At your own time and schedule, you are then invited to post your thoughts at the link-up. Then, voila! we have a community! I ask that you be respectful and loving towards one another as this can be a difficult book to work through. I know it has brought up some deep-seeded issues in my own life that I haven't dealt with and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Also, let's show love to one another by commenting on at least one of the posts linked up. You never know...you might make someone's day :)
